ChatGPT Launched a Free Training Program for Small Businesses: What PH Owners Should Know

What OpenAI Just Launched

OpenAI released a structured program to help small business owners put ChatGPT to real use — not just explore it. The program centers on ChatGPT Work, an AI agent that handles multi-step tasks and connects to your existing business apps and files. It runs on GPT-5.6, OpenAI’s most advanced model.

The goal: help entrepreneurs who wear five hats get more done without adding headcount.

What’s Available from the Philippines

The program has four parts. The in-person AI Academies run in the US only — those you can skip. Everything else is accessible globally:

  • Free virtual training webinars on ChatGPT Work for accounting, marketing, and e-commerce. Attend live or catch the replay.
  • Interactive guides with ready-to-use prompts you can copy directly into ChatGPT Work.
  • Partner integrations with Shopify, Wix, Slack, Intuit, Dropbox, and Atlassian — platforms many Filipino sellers and solopreneurs already use.
  • Customer stories showing real workflows: voice notes turned into client emails, competitor pricing tracked weekly, customer reviews analyzed for product improvements.

The Numbers That Should Get Your Attention

OpenAI cited results from previous in-person sessions: 78% of participants built a working AI workflow in a single day. More useful: 42% saved more than five hours a week.

Five hours a week is most of an extra workday. For a solo operator running a Shopify store or a 3-person service business, that’s the difference between staying late every night and actually having evenings back.

How Much Does ChatGPT Work Cost?

ChatGPT Work requires a paid subscription. The Plus plan is $20/month — roughly ₱1,150/month at current exchange rates. Team and Business plans start at $30/user/month.

The training webinars, guides, and customer stories are free. You do not need a paid plan to learn the workflows — only to run the automations in production.

Three Workflows to Try This Week

  • Voice-to-client-email: Record a 30-second voice note summarizing a client update. Paste the transcript into ChatGPT Work and prompt it to write a professional follow-up. Two minutes, zero blank-page stress.
  • Weekly competitor check: Tell ChatGPT Work your three main competitors. Ask it to summarize their latest promotions every Monday. No more manual scrolling through Facebook and Lazada.
  • Monthly review digest: Paste your Shopee, Lazada, or Shopify reviews into ChatGPT Work. Ask for the top three complaints and one recurring compliment. Use those to update your product listing this week.

Honest downside: ChatGPT Work can misread Taglish context — write prompts in clear English first, then localize the output. The in-person academies are US-only, so you miss the community experience. And the ₱1,150/month cost adds up if you’re not using it consistently — start with the free training before committing.
