Filipinos Search for AI Online 20% More Than Americans; Here's What That Means for You
More AI Curiosity Than the US — and That Gap Is Growing
Filipinos run an estimated 61,450 AI-related Google searches per 100,000 people every month. Americans? 51,220. That is a 20% gap — in our favor — based on a new analysis by KalonAI using Google Keyword Planner data from June 2025 to May 2026.
The finding is not just a trivia stat. It tells us where Filipino entrepreneurs, office workers, and freelancers are already spending their attention — and what tools they are hungry to learn.
Who Is Searching the Most
Within the Philippines, Cebu City leads all cities for AI-related search volume per capita — ahead of Angeles City, Makati, Baguio, and Iloilo. The Visayas presence is striking for a topic often associated with Metro Manila.
At the regional level, NCR ranks first, followed by Central Visayas, CALABARZON, Davao, and Central Luzon. The research used per-capita rates, not raw volume, so smaller cities with high engagement show up strongly. Zamboanga City and BARMM ranked at the bottom.
What This Means If You Run a Business or Side Hustle
High search volume is demand without a supplier. If Cebuanos are searching for AI tools and tutorials at a higher rate than Metro Manila, that is an underserved market — for content, training, and services built for local needs.
If you are a solopreneur, freelancer, or small business owner: the customers you want to reach are already curious about AI. They do not need to be convinced AI exists. They need clear guidance on which tools to use, what they cost, and how to start today.
The Practical Angle
If you are marketing a product or service in Cebu, Davao, or Iloilo: AI content in Taglish, with clear peso-denominated comparisons, will find an audience. The search demand is there — the supply of accessible, PH-specific content is not.
Start small: a Facebook post walking through how your business uses one AI tool earns more trust than a generic ad. The data shows your audience is already looking. Meet them where they are.
