Music & Sound Annotation Expert
About the role
Musicians, music teachers and audio pros can use their ears to help train AI. You'll listen to short real world recordings and note exactly what you hear, like instruments, tempo, key and background sounds. You'll need 3 or more years of music or audio experience and 20 to 25 hours a week. AI Alerts may earn a referral fee if you're hired through this link. It costs you nothing and doesn't change how we pick or rank jobs.
What you'll do
- Listen to 30 to 90 second field recordings and fill in structured notes: instruments, tempo, key, background sounds with timestamps, and scene details
- Compare recordings of the same song made in different places and note what changed
- In later phases, check AI descriptions of clips and mark what's right, wrong or made up
- Join a paid onboarding session and a short weekly sync
Requirements
- 3 or more years of hands on music or audio experience (musicians, producers, music teachers, choir directors, sound recordists, podcast editors and similar)
- Strong listening skills: you can pick out instruments in a noisy, real world mix
- Can identify tempo within a few BPM and the musical key
- Comfortable with detailed, repetitive annotation work on a web platform
- Clear written English for short notes
- Good headphones, a quiet workspace and reliable internet
- Available 20 to 25 hours a week
