About the role
AI-Powered Book Localization Editor to convert German nonfiction manuscripts into publication-ready American English. This is an AI-first localization project, not a traditional manual translation position, and it is freelance and project-based.
What you'll do
- Use AI tools to generate a high-quality first-pass English translation from the approved German master manuscript.
- Review and improve the AI-generated text for accuracy, readability, natural American English, and localization.
- Check terminology, technical explanations, examples, tables, checklists, and exercises for consistency.
- Use AI-supported quality checks to find missing sections, untranslated passages, inconsistencies, or numerical errors.
- Perform a final human editorial review and deliver a publication-ready US-English manuscript.
Requirements
- This is an AI-first localization project, not a traditional manual translation position.
- Excellent language skills plus editorial judgment.
- Maintain the author's original meaning, voice, structure, and intended message.
- Adapt German-specific expressions and examples for American readers.
- Ensure terminology stays consistent across chapters.
