About the role
Meridial (powered by Invisible Technologies) is seeking synthetic chemistry experts in the Philippines to train AI on chemical synthesis. You’ll challenge advanced AI models on organic synthesis, reaction mechanism design, stereochemistry, retrosynthetic analysis, organometallic chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, catalysis, and structure–activity relationships — topics like multi-step synthesis planning, protecting group strategies, asymmetric catalysis, reagent selection, total synthesis of natural products, and functional group transformations. Remote from the Philippines, $8–$65/hr.
What you'll do
- Challenge AI on organic synthesis, reaction mechanism design, stereochemistry, retrosynthetic analysis, organometallic chemistry, heterocyclic chemistry, and catalysis; verify factual accuracy and logical soundness across synthesis scenarios
- Document AI failure modes in synthetic chemistry reasoning: multi-step synthesis planning, protecting group strategies, asymmetric catalysis, reagent selection, total synthesis of natural products, and functional group transformations
- Capture reproducible error traces and suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics for synthetic chemistry AI tasks
- Articulate synthesis reasoning metacognitively — show your work, explain retrosynthetic choices, and document failure patterns in a precise, actionable format
Requirements
- Deep expertise in synthetic chemistry; a PhD in chemistry or closely related physical or life-science field is ideal
- Peer-reviewed publications, laboratory synthesis experience, or applied chemical development projects signal strong fit
- Clear, metacognitive communication — ability to explain synthetic chemistry reasoning step-by-step; experience in AI evaluation or laboratory annotation is a plus
