72% of PH Companies Now Screen for AI Skills — What Jobstreet Data Means for Your Career
AI literacy is now a hiring filter in the Philippines
Jobstreet by SEEK Philippines Managing Director Dannah Majarocon shared a sharp data point at the HP Elevate 2026 summit: 72% of Philippine organizations now look for AI knowledge when recruiting. An additional 36% have already embedded AI tools directly into their workflows as of Q1 2026.
Translation: if you're job hunting or pushing for a promotion, "I use ChatGPT" is no longer a fun bonus. It's becoming a baseline expectation.
What "AI skills" actually means
Nobody's asking you to build machine learning models. The shift is about using AI tools to produce more with less time — generating pitch decks from raw data, summarizing meeting notes, writing faster client reports, handling customer inquiries at scale.
HP Philippines MD Ida Evina Ong-Co made the frame clear: companies are moving away from measuring attendance and toward measuring outcomes. The person who cuts a 3-hour task to 30 minutes using AI is the new high performer.
It's not just for big companies
Miko David of the Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines noted that AI benefits are reaching freelancers and MSMEs, not just corporations. PH small businesses are already using ChatGPT to write social media ads, product descriptions, and customer replies. The skill set that used to require a marketing team is now within reach of a one-person operation.
What to do this week
- Pick one repetitive task — a weekly report, a client email, a product summary — and spend 20 minutes prompting ChatGPT or Gemini to do the first draft.
- Document your time saved. "Cut X task from Y hours to Z minutes using AI" is a strong line in any job application or performance review.
- Start free. ChatGPT Free, Gemini (via your Google account), and Meta AI on Messenger are all free starting points that require zero budget.
