Junior Data Scientist

About the role

An early-career junior data scientist at Arch Global Services in Taguig works with experienced teammates on insurance problems, using foundation models, Python, and Azure/Databricks.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with the team to turn insurance business problems into technical solutions.
• Build assigned pieces for data extraction, classification, routing, or search using foundation models.
• Manipulate and analyze data in Python following established patterns, and communicate findings.
• Engineer foundation-model prompts under guidance and evaluate them with statistical metrics.
• Document the work for team review and learn how the components depend on each other.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of Python, plus willingness to learn virtual environments, dependency management, and git.
• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms and APIs, and willingness to learn Azure, Databricks, and foundation-model APIs.
• Foundational understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, evaluation metrics, and statistics from coursework or early experience.
• Exposure to foundation models through coursework or projects.
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, economics, physics, mathematics, operations research, or computational linguistics.
