About the role

Client is looking for an Email Experience Manager to take ownership of its email program from production and design through quality assurance, campaign management, and performance optimization. This is a highly hands-on role that combines email development, design, UX, campaign management, and analytics. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and sending daily emails while also improving INMA’s email design system, templates, workflows, and overall user experience. The role requires strong expertise in HTML/CSS for email, particularly across desktop Outlook and other major email clients, as well as the ability to use AI tools such as Claude effectively within a production workflow.

What you'll do

  • Email Production & Development
  • Build, test, and deploy daily newsletters, marketing emails, conference campaigns, and initiative communications.
  • Manage email production through the ReadyMembership campaign platform or similar email marketing system.
  • Develop and maintain responsive, cross-client HTML email templates.
  • Ensure emails render correctly across major email clients, with particular attention to Microsoft Outlook.
  • Work with table-based layouts, MSO conditional comments, VML, inline CSS, and other email-specific development techniques.
  • Implement appropriate dark mode handling and graceful degradation across different email clients and devices.
  • Email Design & User Experience
  • Maintain a high standard of visual design, typography, hierarchy, imagery, and brand consistency across all email communications.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on creative assets and email designs.
  • Apply email UX principles to create clear, mobile-friendly, and easy-to-scan communications.
  • Ensure each email has clear calls to action, effective subject lines, and engaging preheaders.
  • Collaborate with designers and internal stakeholders to improve the overall email experience.
  • Campaign & Project Management
  • Manage the email campaign calendar for conferences, initiatives, newsletters, and one-off campaigns.
  • Coordinate requests from multiple internal stakeholders and maintain production deadlines.
  • Prioritize campaign requests while ensuring daily email production remains on schedule.
  • Manage the end-to-end email workflow from content intake and design through development, QA, scheduling, and deployment.
  • Identify potential production issues early and communicate timelines and requirements to stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance
  • Conduct thorough pre-send testing across major email clients, browsers, and devices.
  • Use email testing and rendering platforms such as Litmus, Email on Acid, or equivalent tools.
  • Maintain and follow documented email QA checklists and processes.
  • Troubleshoot HTML and rendering issues and make the necessary code adjustments before deployment.
  • Ensure emails meet established brand, accessibility, formatting, and technical standards.
  • AI & Email Systems
  • Use AI tools such as Claude as part of the email development and production workflow.
  • Develop and maintain a structured AI context library containing design guidelines, coding standards, reusable components, and workflow documentation.
  • Build and maintain a reusable email component and template library.
  • Establish documented processes that allow email campaigns to be efficiently assembled and maintained.
  • Review and validate AI-generated HTML to ensure the final output meets technical, visual, and brand requirements.
  • Analytics & Optimization
  • Monitor key email performance metrics including opens, clicks, unsubscribes, engagement, and deliverability.
  • Analyze campaign results and provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, layouts, content, timing, and other campaign elements.
  • Use performance data to continuously improve email engagement and overall program effectiveness.
  • Monitor basic deliverability indicators and identify potential issues affecting campaign performance.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in email production, email development, lifecycle marketing, or email marketing.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience building and/or designing professional email campaigns.
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS for email development.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Outlook email rendering and email-specific development techniques, including:
  • MSO conditional comments
  • VML
  • Table-based layouts
  • Inline CSS
  • Responsive email development
  • Dark mode considerations
  • Cross-client compatibility
  • Experience using email rendering and QA tools such as Litmus, Email on Acid, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of email UX, design principles, and engagement best practices.
  • Experience analyzing email performance and conducting A/B testing.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms within a production workflow.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a globally distributed team.
