AI Data Scientist — Zed (Onsite)
About the role
Zed, the Philippines' first AI-native licensed neobank, is hiring a Data Scientist to own the ML models powering its core financial products. In your first six months you'll build credit risk and underwriting models from scratch while integrating LLMs, RAG, and agentic AI workflows — working directly with founders and cross-functional partners in a fast-moving startup environment.
What you'll do
- Build, validate, and iterate on ML models for credit risk assessment, underwriting, and portfolio performance
- Own data science projects end-to-end — from problem formulation and data exploration to model evaluation and production handoff
- Integrate LLMs and generative AI techniques (fine-tuning, RAG, agentic systems) to develop innovative solutions for financial use cases
- Partner with Product, Risk, Engineering, and Finance to translate business objectives into robust data-driven solutions
- Mature Zed's data science practices, internal tooling, and standards as the company scales
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, or applied AI (or equivalent graduate-level research)
- Demonstrated ability to build ML models from the ground up with end-to-end ownership
- Strong proficiency in Python and common ML/data science libraries; experience with SQL and data workflows
- Exposure to LLMs and generative AI including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, RAG, or agentic systems
- Excellent analytical and communication skills for translating technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
