About the role
Gray Swan AI Arena is a free AI red-teaming competition backed by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta, Amazon, and the UK AI Security Institute. In the Hazard Hunt challenge, participants test frontier AI models' resilience to direct elicitation across four hazard categories — chemistry, biology, cyber, and miscellaneous — competing for a share of an $80,000 prize pool. No fee to join; standout performers can also be invited into Gray Swan's private paid red-teaming network.
What you'll do
- Submit successful 'breaks' (jailbreaks) against frontier AI models across the Chemistry, Biological, Cyber, and Miscellaneous hazard categories.
- Compete for a share of the $80,000 prize pool ($20,000 per category).
- Chemistry wave is live now (Aug 25 – Sep 11, 2026); the other category waves roll out within the same challenge window.
- Standout performers can be invited to Gray Swan's private paid red-teaming network (100+ placements claimed to date).
- Free to join — new participants can warm up with the Proving Grounds or Getting Started Quest before scored challenges.
Requirements
- Free Gray Swan Arena account (sign up at app.grayswan.ai).
- No formal coding or security background required — the arena is built for 'curious beginners to seasoned pros.'
- 18 years or older.
- Not a resident of Russia, North Korea, Iran, Syria, or Cuba (per Gray Swan's Terms of Service).
