About the role

TELUS Digital is hiring a Tagalog linguist in Rizal to evaluate speech AI. The work covers text-to-speech naturalness, speech-recognition accuracy, and whether training data is linguistically sound.

What you'll do

• Analyze AI-generated speech for naturalness, pronunciation, prosody, intonation, and emotional register.
• Identify transcription, phonological, and morphological errors in speech-recognition output.
• Evaluate grammar, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse coherence in speech output.
• Apply phonetic and phonological analysis to Tagalog dialects, accents, and pronunciation variants.
• Provide structured linguistic feedback for model improvement.
• Document regional and sociolinguistic speech variation to inform training datasets.

Requirements

• Tagalog linguistic expertise, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, and syntax.
• Ability to judge text-to-speech naturalness and speech-recognition linguistic accuracy.
• Ability to distinguish dialectal and accent features in Tagalog speech.
• Ability to write structured linguistic feedback for model training.
