Environmental Science Specialist — Freelance AI Trainer Project
About the role
Meridial (powered by Invisible Technologies) is seeking environmental science experts in the Philippines to train the next generation of AI. You’ll challenge advanced AI models on climate science, environmental chemistry, hydrology, atmospheric science, soil science, ecology, sustainability, and geospatial analysis — topics like carbon cycling, environmental impact assessment, air/water quality monitoring, ecosystem modeling, and climate adaptation strategies. Remote from the Philippines, $8–$65/hr.
What you'll do
- Challenge AI models on climate science, environmental chemistry, hydrology, atmospheric science, soil science, ecology, and sustainability; verify factual accuracy and logical soundness across real-world environmental scenarios
- Document every AI failure mode in reasoning about environmental topics: carbon cycling, environmental impact assessment, air/water quality monitoring, ecosystem modeling, life cycle analysis, environmental toxicology
- Capture reproducible error traces and suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics for environmental science AI tasks
- Apply metacognitive communication — explicitly articulate scientific reasoning, show your work, and explain error patterns in a structured, actionable way
Requirements
- Deep expertise in environmental science; a PhD in environmental science or a closely related earth or ecological science field is ideal
- Peer-reviewed publications, field research, regulatory or environmental assessment experience, or GIS-based environmental projects signal strong fit
- Clear, metacognitive communication style — ability to explain complex environmental science reasoning step-by-step; experience in AI evaluation or scientific annotation is a plus
