Kotlin Coding Specialist — Freelance AI Trainer Project
About the role
Meridial (powered by Invisible Technologies) is looking for experienced Kotlin/Android developers worldwide to train AI on mobile software engineering. You’ll take real-world engineering scenarios — bug reports and feature requests from Git repositories — and produce clean, idiomatic Kotlin solutions while evaluating AI-generated code for correctness, maintainability, and modern Android design patterns. Remote, worldwide-open, $35+/hr.
What you'll do
- Review AI-generated Kotlin code and implement optimized solutions for real-world Android engineering scenarios: bug reports, feature requests, and architectural decisions
- Evaluate AI solutions for correctness, idiomatic Kotlin style, maintainability, and adherence to modern Android development practices
- Challenge AI on Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, Jetpack libraries (Room, WorkManager, Datastore, ViewModel, Hilt), and networking (OkHttp, Retrofit, Coil)
- Document best practices and reasoning behind correct Kotlin/Android implementations; suggest improvements to evaluation criteria and prompt design
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Kotlin and Android development background; demonstrable experience building and maintaining production-level Kotlin applications
- Proficiency with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, and Jetpack libraries; familiarity with build.gradle configuration, dependency management, and Android multimedia (CameraX, ExoPlayer, Media3) is a plus
- Clear, structured communication — ability to explain technical decisions, coding tradeoffs, and Android design patterns in precise, reproducible detail
