Literature Specialist — Freelance AI Trainer Project
About the role
Meridial (powered by Invisible Technologies) is looking for literature specialists and avid readers worldwide to train the next generation of AI. You’ll challenge advanced language models on literary passages, thematic interpretation, narrative structure, symbolism, and historical context; document AI failure modes; and help improve reasoning and interpretive accuracy. No degree required — teaching, editorial, or extensive reading experience all qualify. Remote, $6–$65/hr.
What you'll do
- Challenge AI models with literary passages, analytical questions, and interpretation tasks; evaluate thematic interpretation, narrative structure, authorial style, symbolism, genre conventions, and close reading across classical and contemporary literature
- Verify factual accuracy and coherence of AI responses; capture reproducible error traces and document failure modes in AI literary reasoning
- Provide structured feedback to improve prompts, evaluation criteria, and AI reasoning quality; clearly articulate interpretive reasoning and evaluation steps (‘showing your work’)
- Help democratize access to literary analysis by building AI training data that supports readers, students, and scholars around the world
Requirements
- Strong familiarity with literature, critical analysis, or closely related humanities field; a degree in literature, English, comparative literature, or similar is preferred but not required
- Background across classical literature, modern/contemporary fiction, poetry, drama, literary theory, or comparative literature; broad and thoughtful reading background
- Clear, metacognitive communication — ability to explicitly articulate reasoning and interpretive steps; teaching, academic research, editorial, or extensive reading/writing experience are all valuable
- Experience in AI annotation, content evaluation, or linguistic quality work is a plus; structured feedback and critical thinking skills are essential
