About the role
Meridial (powered by Invisible Technologies) is seeking materials science and engineering experts in the Philippines to train AI. You’ll challenge advanced AI models on crystallography, thermomechanical processing, nanomaterials, polymer science, electronic materials, biomaterials, corrosion science, and composite development — topics like phase transformations, microstructure-property relationships, XRD/SEM/TEM characterization, additive manufacturing, and materials failure analysis. Remote from the Philippines, $8–$65/hr.
What you'll do
- Challenge AI on crystallography, thermomechanical processing, nanomaterials, polymer science, electronic materials, biomaterials, corrosion science, and composite development; verify factual accuracy and logical soundness
- Document AI failure modes in materials science reasoning: phase transformations, microstructure-property relationships, materials characterization (XRD, SEM, TEM), thermal analysis, additive manufacturing, and failure analysis
- Capture reproducible error traces and suggest improvements to prompt engineering and evaluation metrics for materials science AI tasks
- Articulate materials science reasoning metacognitively — show your work, explain analytical choices, and document failure patterns in a structured, actionable format
Requirements
- Deep expertise in materials science and engineering; a PhD in materials science, materials engineering, or closely related physical science field is ideal
- Peer-reviewed publications, lab-based testing, product design using advanced materials, or applied materials research signal strong fit
- Clear, metacognitive communication — ability to explain complex materials science concepts step-by-step; experience in AI evaluation or scientific annotation is a plus
