Senior Python Backend Engineer / AI Workflow Architect
About the role
Stonair is an AI platform that reconstructs manufacturing workflows from a bill of materials. The existing Python backend identifies processes and machines, runs engineering calculations, and coordinates material flow and energy accounting. They need an experienced engineer to organize and improve that backend, including local-model calls. Required: strong Python backend development, workflow orchestration, LLM integration, Ollama/local models, structured data extraction, testing, and performance optimization.
What you'll do
- Review the existing architecture, dependencies, and implementation.
- Connect and stabilize the complete BOM-to-results workflow.
- Improve runtime through profiling, caching, efficient local-model calls, and concurrency.
- Preserve evidence provenance, assumptions, physical validation, and partial-result handling.
- Verify the workflow with representative BOMs and document the architecture.
Requirements
- Strong Python backend development and workflow orchestration.
- LLM integration and Ollama or other local models.
- Structured data extraction, testing, and performance optimization.
- Engineering or manufacturing software experience is a plus.
