Power BI Data Visualization Analyst

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Data Visualization Analyst to drive the rapid creation and deployment of business intelligence reports. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced proficiency in Power BI, exceptional analytical capabilities, and strong communication skills for engaging both technical and business stakeholders. This role demands deep expertise in DAX, best practices in data modeling, and proven experience in performance tuning, particularly optimizing large datasets and ensuring highly responsive, scalable reports and semantic models.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and optimize Power BI reports and dashboards that deliver actionable insights.
• Write and maintain advanced DAX measures and calculated columns for accurate analytics.
• Implement data modeling best practices (star schema, relationships, hierarchies) for performance and scalability.
• Perform data transformation and cleaning using Power Query (M language).
• Optimize report performance through query reduction, aggregations, and efficient measures.
• Create intuitive, user-friendly visualizations that highlight key insights for decision-making.
• Document assumptions, data sources, and measure definitions for transparency and handoff.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Requirements

• Advanced Power BI expertise: 3-8 years, Proven work experience building and publishing interactive dashboards.
• Strong visual design sensibility 3-8 years, Understanding of data visualization best practices and UX principles, with the ability to design clean, intuitive Power BI reports that reduce cognitive load and highlight actionable insights. This includes independently selecting appropriate visual types, applying consistent formatting standards, and structuring dashboards for clarity, usability, and accuracy.
• DAX mastery: 3-8 years, Ability to write complex measures and optimize for performance.
• Power Query (M language): Connecting to Fabric Dataflows, Skilled in data transformation and shaping.
• Ability to work with large, complex datasets and troubleshoot data quality issues.
• Data modeling best practices: Strong grasp of star schema design, relationships, and hierarchies.
• Performance tuning: Experience optimizing large datasets and improving report responsiveness.
• Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS) in Power BI.
• Understanding of data governance and compliance (especially if dealing with sensitive supply chain data).
• Knowledge of Power BI Service administration (workspaces, gateways, refresh schedules).
• Basic understanding of cloud architecture for BI solutions (Azure preferred).
• Excellent communication skills: Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Documentation skills: Clear and structured documentation of measures, assumptions, and data sources.
