Lead AI Engineer
About the role
We are seeking an Automation Lead to architect, build, and operate AI-driven systems and automation workflows across multiple business platforms. This role is highly technical and hands-on, with responsibility for API-based system integration, AI model development and deployment, and automation at scale across ERP, CRM, and Microsoft 365 environments. You will define technical architecture, select tooling, and lead implementation of production-grade AI and automation solutions.
What you'll do
- Architect and implement API integrations between systems including Sage 200, Joblogic, and Pipedrive
- Design and deploy AI/ML models for data extraction, classification, forecasting, and decision support
- Build event-driven and scheduled automation workflows across integrated systems
- Integrate services with Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) using APIs and automation frameworks
- Develop scalable backend services to support AI inference and workflow orchestration
- Own the full ML lifecycle: data ingestion, training, validation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Ensure system reliability, security, and performance across all integrations
- Produce technical documentation covering architecture, APIs, and model behaviour
Requirements
- Strong experience in API design and integration (REST, webhooks, authentication, rate limiting)
- Solid background in machine learning engineering (model development, evaluation, deployment)
- Experience building automation pipelines and orchestration layers
- Proficiency in Python (primary) and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience working with databases and data pipelines (SQL, NoSQL)
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience integrating with Microsoft Graph API and Excel-based workflows
