Remote Accounting Manager for Education Management Company

About the role

A fast-growing US early childhood education platform is looking for an Accounting Manager to take full ownership of the month-end close, vendor and payables management, and the systems work that keeps finance operations scalable through rapid growth. The company operates 11 schools acquired through a roll-up strategy and is scaling toward roughly 50 locations within three years, with revenue growing from $20M toward $60M+. Backed by a family office, the business integrates well-established preschools onto a single operating platform — giving the finance function a mandate well beyond day-to-day bookkeeping. Day-to-day, the Accounting Manager owns the full month-end close targeting a 5–7 day cycle, manages vendors and payables through a modern spend platform, and drives process improvements ahead of the company's first external audit. Success means running the close independently by day 60 and delivering a systems-improvement roadmap by day 90, with a defined growth path toward a Controller role.

What you'll do

    Requirements

    • 5+ years of accounting experience at the Accounting Manager level or equivalent
    • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of a full month-end close process — not a single function such as AP, AR, or tax
    • U.S. GAAP accounting experience at a U.S.-based or U.S.-reporting company
    • Advanced Excel proficiency evidenced through complex reconciliations, multi-entity consolidation, or financial modeling
    • Experience project-managing the close holistically across workstreams (journal entries, reconciliations, reporting)
    • Full-time availability with no concurrent clients or independent accounting practice
    • C1+ English (CEFR) for vendor-facing and cross-functional communication
